About Mrs. Alers: I was born in the island of Puerto Rico. I was raised in Isabela, a beautiful coastal city that is known for the inviting and beautiful beaches where several professional surfing tournaments take place. I am the oldest of three siblings. I graduated from high school at Dr. Heriberto Domenech High School in Isabela, P.R. I received my bachelor’s degree at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus. I got married in 1995 with my lovely husband, Edward. Together we are raising two children, Eduardo and Keyla. They keep us very busy with their soccer practices and games. We moved to Ft. Hood, TX. in 2002, where my husband received his orders. After he retired from the ARMY, we stayed in the Killeen area, where I got my teacher certification. Soon after I started working for the Killeen Independent School District as a bilingual education teacher at Peebles Elementary School for ten years. In the interim, I also received my master’s degree diploma from Tarleton State University. We recently moved to Georgetown, TX. That brought me here to Round Rock ISD, where I am proudly serving as a dual language teacher at Anderson Mill. Go, ‘Dillos!
